Ever thought of turning your yoga practice upside down? Literally…upside down! We spend our lives with our head and trunk riding high on our lower body. Flipping this by adding inversions into your practice can be a refreshing change of pace. Yoga inversions build upper body strength, enhance balance, and give us an opportunity to see the world from a different perspective. Other benefits from an inversion practice include prevention of lymphatic pooling in the legs/feet and an increase in circulation to the brain, resulting in a boost of energy. Finally, inversions can be great fun. They allow us to be playful with our yoga practice.
Ferris Fakhoury has created a two part series of short workshops to help students add inversions to their practice, or enhance their inversion practice through learning techniques in form and control. In Level I students learn to build strength/flexibility in order to prepare for Level II, which allows students to practice many different types of inversions (forearm balance, handstand, yoga headstand and more) Students may enroll in a single workshop or receive a discount by enrolling in both. Completing Level I is encouraged but not required to enroll into Level II.
